The 3100 is by all accounts an exceptionally good autopilot, but it might take a bit more effort to work through the bugs during the install process.

When you lose your primary PFD, then it reverts to the backup, the autopilot goes off line and you have to reselect a mode. This is to prevent it from doing wonky things at switch over.

I would like to add an autopilot and have been looking at the GFC 500. I had my plane in getting some avionics updates done and I figured Id get a quote on a GFC500 install. 2019年3月28日 · I can get a Garmin GFC500 with dual G5s which will probably be around $22,000 installed for similar functionality. Navigator is a Garmin 530W. The Aspen probably has slightly more functionality, but I have friends who have had problems with them (perhaps the Max will make them more reliable with built in AHRS). Garmin has redundancy.
