The British Rail Class 800, branded as the Intercity Express Train (IET) by Great Western Railway (GWR) and Azuma by London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is a type of bi-mode multiple unit train built by Hitachi Rail for GWR and LNER.

800型是基於英國政府的城際特快計畫（Intercity Express Programme），用以取代部分行駛於大西部主線與東海岸主線的城際列車125班次，東海岸主線上的城際列車225班車。

class800和class801是日本日立公司（hitachi）为英国伦敦东北铁路（lner）和大西部铁路（gwr）生产的城际动车组，属于日立a-train系列产品，在日立内部又被命名为at300型。

The Class 800 is an electric/diesel hybrid and is designed to speed along the electrified main lines and then continue to its final destination using small under-floor diesel engines. The Class 801 is the all-electric version designed for end-to-end running on electrified trunk routes like London to Edinburgh and Leeds.

2018年1月25日 · Great Western Railway’s Intercity Express Programme Class 800s entered traffic on October 16, in a launch marred by technical failures - air-conditioning poured water on unsuspecting passengers on the first run from Bristol Temple Meads, and there was a failure in the system that allows the train to switch from diesel to electric (RAIL 838).

2020年9月4日 · 800 & 801 are IEP units procured by the government and used by the ICEC and ICGW TOCs on a diagram basis (rather than for example a conventional wet lease) - the 800s are the fully bi-mode units, the 801s are the EMU variant (with singular emergency genset).

2017年11月21日 · 802s have bigger brake resistors on the roof. That's about it really from the technical point of view. It's mostly to do with the procurement process. 800s are supplied by Agility to the DfT, 802s are supplied to GWR by Eversholt.

The design of Class 800 was highly appreciated for its symbolic image as the fastest high-speed train in the UK at the time. The biggest obstacle, however, was European standards and customer requirements.
