
How does GFR move up and down so dramatically?
2023年6月1日 · Hello! I've been reading many posts saying GFR has improved pretty dramatically. I was told kidneys do not repair themselves or get better. I have a good diet (for almost 10 years), being healthy, and exercising. My weight is 133 lbs. Other bloodwork is normal, sodium, potassium, CO2, cholesterol...all normal. But my GFR continues to go down.

Many medicines have the capability of harming kidneys since most medicines are processed through the kidneys but usually a doctor tests kidney function regularly if that is a risk with a medicine someone takes consistently.

2020年9月23日 · June 2020 GFR 48. Was not given any thing other than water daily excersise and reduce alcohol. After research on ckd it looks very serious. Called doc back few days after appt for more info. Came with plant based low protein diet. Ordered some cookbooks and cobbled together what I called kidney diet. Follow up blood work now showed GFR 60!!!

It’s been 5 months and my doctor said my energy level would be back but couldn’t say when. I have always been very active. I work full time. I have a very active dog.

2023年7月9日 · I do not take BP meds. I just posted a topic about exercise and creatinine. I understand as Ginger noted, GFR fluctuates and there are many factors in play. But my general history is a gradual decline. I'd also like to know the lifespan without dialysis or kidney transplant as GFR steadily reduces.

He's been doing well but out of nowhere his GFR dropped from 54 to 29 in the space of 6 weeks, then rebounded up to 46, then back down to 36 in a week, then back to 46 last week.

2024年9月14日 · I am looking for answers. I was experiencing excessive urination. Measured 1800 mils overnight. I made an appt with PCP who told me it was diabetes, fasting 140 and 2 hours after meal 149 (different days). I went to an urgent care clinic and the doctor sent me to ER. ER said I had kidney failure GFR 80-90 down to GFR 21 in less than two months.

2023年6月1日 · Your question about GFR interested me because I was checking my blood test results and following GFR, it is associated with weight /muscle loss, protein. GFR will fall with weight loss and rise as it increases. Creatinine up GFR down, Creatinine down GFR up. Maybe you already found that out, Good luck. skribat

2024年9月14日 · Interestingly, the night of my post i got the call for a transplant . Doing well now. At the time my gfr was 16, I was always tired with no energy but didn't feel ill. It was the anemia which is a huge side effect of CKD. Also, a lot of muscle cramps (mainly cos i was taken off all supplements that helped) I still walked and golfed a little.
