The Guided Bomb Unit-24 (GBU-24) is a laser guided bomb used to destroy hardened targets. It consists of the nose-mounted laser guidance unit and the Paveway III tail assembly fitted to a 2,000-pound BLU-109 bomb with its special steel casing.

Apart from the GBU-24/B series of the U.S. military, which uses suffix letters to distinguish between variants, there is also a GBU-24 (V)/B series. These designations are applied to 2000 lb Paveway IIIs for export, which all use GCUs in the WGU-43 ( )/B series.

GBU-24 is fitted to a 2,000-lb bomb body, with a BLU-109 penetrating warhead. GBU-28 variants are large 5,000-lb class air-to-ground penetrators initially developed for use against Iraq’s deeply buried, hardened C2 facilities.
