2012年4月16日 · The 6.9 and the 7.3 IDI are the same engine. A 7.3 has a larger bore. These engines are mechanically injected, mechanically timed, mechanically everything. The only thing required for the engine to run is fuel and a single 12 volt wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid. Because they're so simple, they last a long, long time.

2010年6月15日 · The 87 6.9 is the preferred motor for performance building, though late 85, 86 motors are just as good with the addition of 7.3 rockers. Both the 6.9 and 7.3 need head studs in order to raise the boost levels, there currently is no TRUE stud kits for the 7.3, so ultimately you can boost the 6.9 higher.

It implemented improvements such as oil squirters to cool the pistons, hardened nodular iron crankshaft, four bolt main crank caps, and roller lifters to name a few. 2011年8月23日 · The 7.3 is a bored out 6.9 with a few modifications over the years like better rockers. A 6.9 or 7.3 is easy to work on. E4OD transmissions have a computer to control them. C6 does not but it doesn't have OD, so your MPGs are less. The manual trannies are pretty self explanatory, no computers.
