Flixton is a suburb and electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 10,786. [1] It lies six miles (9.7 km) southwest of Manchester city centre, in the historic county of Lancashire.

The Cheshire Lines Committee's railway from Manchester to Liverpool crosses the township diagonally, and has a station at Flixton, opened in 1873. The Manchester Ship Canal passes along the western border, between large embankments, and has recently been adopted as the boundary of the township.

In 1935, the Council acquired Flixton House and grounds and opened it as a park. The grounds include a walled garden, rose garden and ornamental pond. One of the brick walls shelters a superb herbaceous border which is best viewed from May to June.
