Ferdinand Lukas Schubert was an Austrian teacher, organist and composer. He is notable for his compositions and for his role in publishing the complete works of his younger brother Franz Schubert.

SCHUBERT, Ferdinand, one of the elder brothers of Franz Schubert, second son of his father (see p. 319), born at Vienna Oct. 19, 1794. After passing the two-years course at the Normal School of S. Anna in 1807–8, he became his father's assistant at the school in the Lichtenthal.

Lehrer, Komponist, Organist und Dirigent. 10. Kind (zweiter überlebender Sohn) des Schulmeisters Franz Theodor (1763–1830) und von Elisabeth, geb. Vietz (1756–1812). Seinen ersten Violinunterricht erhielt Ferd. vom Vater, im Klavierspiel wurde er von seinem älteren Bruder Ignaz (1785–1844) unterrichtet.
