转录因子：转录因子 (transcription factor)是一群能与基因5`端上游特定序列专一性结合，从而保证目的基因以特定的强度在特定的时间与空间表达的蛋白质分子。

断裂基因/中断基因 是指在DNA序列中，一系列可被表达成RNA或蛋白质的DNA片段（也就是外显子exon）被一系列不能转录成RNA或翻译成蛋白质的DNA片段（也就是intron）给分割开来。
