In the Borderlands series, Ellie is the daughter of Moxxi. They were originally part of the Hodunk clan, but Moxxi, protective of Ellie, killed the clan leader when they tried to make Ellie the clan-wife. Despite Moxxi's caring nature, Ellie left Sanctuary due to her mother's constant pressure on her to lose weight.

Hijack Targets are location-based challenges found throughout Borderlands 3. They are given and tracked by Ellie, and involves the Vault Hunter finding and hijacking rare vehicle for their parts and paint-jobs. Hijack Targets challenges are focused on exploration.
