Eclogite - Wikipedia
Eclogite ( / ˈɛklədʒaɪt /) is a metamorphic rock containing garnet (almandine - pyrope) hosted in a matrix of sodium -rich pyroxene (omphacite). Accessory minerals include kyanite, rutile, quartz, lawsonite, coesite, amphibole, phengite, paragonite, …
Eclogite | Metamorphic, Mafic Minerals & Garnet | Britannica
Eclogite, any member of a small group of igneous and metamorphic rocks whose composition is similar to that of basalt. Eclogites consist primarily of green pyroxene (omphacite) and red garnet (pyrope), with small amounts of various other stable minerals—e.g., rutile. They are …
Eclogite : Compositions, Formation, Properties » Geology Science
2023年1月12日 · Eclogite is a type of metamorphic rock with distinct mineral composition and texture, typically formed under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions deep within the Earth’s crust. The name “eclogite” is derived from the Greek words “eklogē,” meaning selection or choice, and “lithos,” meaning rock.

2016年3月3日 · Eclogites are high pressure and high temperature metamorphic rocks found at various locations originating from different types of formations. Although their essential mineralogy is quite simple,...
Eclogite - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Eclogite is an unusually dense metamorphic rock, typically of basaltic composition, that represents a recorder and/or driving force for planetary-scale processes and evolution. Eclogite-facies metamorphic conditions encompass a wide range of pressure–temperature space from deep crustal to mantle depths, reflecting tectonic setting.
Eclogite - Metamorphic Rocks - Sandatlas
Eclogite is a metamorphic rock consisting of pyroxene omphacite and pyrope-rich garnet. It is a rare but geologically significant rock type. It is common in the upper mantle, especially in regions occupied by subducted oceanic plates.
Long-lived Paleoproterozoic eclogitic lower crust - Nature
2021年11月12日 · Our finding of a ca. 150–200 km long and 6–8 km thick eclogite body atop the petrological mantle in a Paleoproterozoic craton is unusual and presents the first well-documented geophysical ...
Nature and origin of eclogite xenoliths from kimberlites
2004年9月1日 · Eclogites from the Earth's mantle found in kimberlites provide important information on craton formation and ancient geodynamic processes because such eclogites are mostly Archean in age. They have equilibrated over a range of temperatures and pressures throughout the subcratonic mantle and some are diamond-bearing.
Eclogite - ALEX STREKEISEN
Eclogite: A high P/T metamorphic rock composed of more than 75% vol. garnet (often pyrope or Mg-rich almandine) and omphacite (Na-Ca-Al-Mg clinopyroxene). Both must be present and neither component more than 75% vol. Eclogite never contains plagioclase. Rutile, kyanite, and quartz are typically present.
