Thoughts on RNs being allowed to challenge Medic exam?
2023年1月9日 · This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think that if you can pass the licensing exam and have the required hours internship hours, you should be able to be licensed in EMS. Michigan didn't allow nurses or other providers to challenge EMS exams when I was going to school. I had a Nurse Anesthetist in EMT-Basic class with me.

2009年8月9日 · Just some triage won't listen to EMS, it's frustrating to tell her something and then have her turn around and ask the patient and get the same answer. Some nurses are really cool with reports though and will cut and crack jokes while you're giving your infos. For radio reports, quick and concise.

Most nurses who DO work ED do not start their nursing career in the ED. In fact, I'd say maybe 2/3s of nurses ever even rotate to ED during school!

2013年9月28日 · Most of the crotchety nurses I've worked with or encountered as a paramedic were the crusty old ones who'd been doing it forever. A busy ED is a really tough place to work. A new ED nurse is usually even more intimidated and lost than a new paramedic or EMT, and folks in that position are generally not aggressive.

But since ED nurses are <1% of all nurses, it would not be beneficial overall to make EMS ride alongs a mandatory part of basic nursing education. However, it would be a great thing for an ED to require as part of the orientation process for new ED nurses.

2010年12月11日 · another nurses vs. medics thread. sigh as ems education continues to evolve in the us, it will probly move to 2 or 4 yr degrees for medics. right now its more of a military-style training which gives you all the info you need in a single course. the situation will improve with education at the same time tho, education isn't the whole issue.
