2018年12月21日 · Tl;dr - My 2008 M5 has been a joy to drive and own for the last 5 years and 60k miles. It has had a number of the common problems that are notorious for the E60 M5 over the years but I've had no major mechanical breakdowns. Still on original rod bearings at 130k miles, I average 13mpg and burn through rear tires on a regular basis.

The two big monsters in the M5 closet: bearings and the smg III transmission. First: Bearings, you, and the S85 V10 found in the E60/61 M5, E63/64 M6 and to an extent the S65 V8 found the E9X M3s: These motors are high reving NA master pieces. High rev's means high friction, tight tolerances, and high heat.

2018年11月27日 · Update: The existing rear calipers on the 550i E60 are the same as the M5 E60. The rotor and caliper bracket are the only things needed for the upgrade. This is a 2010 550i with Msport package. Have not fitted yhe rear but looks like a bolt on situation so far.
