I just tie a good old fashioned improved clinch with a long tag end and double the line back through the hook eye. I know it's not a textbook knot to tie on a drop shot but it's the one I'm most comfortable with, and the fish usually don't seem to care either way.

Jun 13, 2021 · The only time i'll ever use a Palomar knot is for a drop shot. Tie the knot with a long tag end, feed the tag end back through the eye of the hook, pull the tag end so that the knot also passes through the eye of the hook (don't use too thick of a line, it could damage the knot by jamming it through the eye), now the hook sits perfectly perpendicular to the line.

Mar 30, 2001 · The best knot I have found to use on the drop shot rig is the old standby Palomar knot. After several years of working with my guide customers on their knot-tying skills, I have found that the Palomar knot is the simplest and quickest knot to tie correctly for drop-shot rigging.

Aug 18, 2017 · I use the double uni for everything....except the drop shot, where it's easier for me to just tie a Palomar for the tag end. Both are great knots. Just remember to put your tag end back thru the eye coming in from the hookpoint side. If your problem is just tying a double uni, google fish-n-fool knot. It's the same knot.
