Like others, I'd echo Foundry as your VTT. I use Wonderdraft for world maps, and Dungeondraft for battlemaps; both export images that are easy to import into Foundry.

I also use dungeon painter studio and have a bunch of different art packs, but you can get the retro dnd map set for free which also looks simple and nice. Alternatively, I have just drawn out maps in R20 with lines and circles for complex dungeons that were mostly theater of mind.
