Why "monoxide" but not "diodine"? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2021年1月15日 · The accepted spelling of diiodide is di-iodide in the grand Oxford Dictionary. It is also consistent with the other halides. difluoride, dichloride, dibromide, and di-iodide. Nothing seems unusual about it. As to the English language, someone wrote why b-u-t is pronounced differently from p-u-t? Some times we have to accept things as they are.
Why is vicinal diiodopropane unstable, leading to deiodination?
2021年3月25日 · I came across this reaction where simple electrophilic addition mechanism will result in a vic-diiodide. $$\ce{H2C=CH-CH2-I ->[HI, excess][CCl4]}$$ But the solution says that vicinal iodine groups are unstable and the following reaction occurs:
Does the diiodide (1−) anion exist? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2017年12月28日 · I found a paper $\ce{^{[1]}}$ regarding the formation of diiodide anion species($\ce{I2^-}$). It is assumed to be an unstable species which forms during the formation of triiodide anion (excess of iodide in solution which makes it brown). This is a part of the paper which describes the formation of the species.
organic chemistry - Does a geminal or vicinal diiodide form upon ...
2021年4月12日 · Reaction: $\\ce{CH3-C#C-CH3 + HI (excess) -> ?}$ Product : I thought of different carbons by the reasoning from this post earlier I posted. But it is given that both iodine atoms exist on the same
Has tellurium (II) iodide been properly characterized ever?
2022年4月30日 · Why has tellurium diiodide never been isolated in bulk? Is it unstable/prone to disproportionation to monoiodide/subiodide? We never got to know its structure nor its physical properties like b.p, m.p, density, color etc. other than the fact that the species is gaseous?
Elimination of bromine with sodium iodide and electrocyclization
2020年4月17日 · I am assuming that the "electrocyclization" is thermal since there is no indication that light was involved. Achiral E will undergo a conrotatory electrocyclization in two directions to give racemic F and, eventually, diiodide G via S N 2 displacement. (The electrocyclization may be rationalized as involving the HOMO of a butadiene or octatetraene.
Why is 1,2-diiodoethane unstable? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2019年11月9日 · It isn't unstable at all. 1,2-diiodoethane is characterized with a melting point of 80–82 °C, and a mass spectrum with five major peaks.
Do Cyclohexane-1,3-diones Give Positive Haloform Reactions?
2020年6月23日 · Some enterprising young chemist out there should prepare the diiodide by the first procedure and subject the product to the conditions of the iodoform rxn. The presence of iodoform will show that the diiodide is not prepared from the parent dione under haloform conditins. $\endgroup$ –
Mechanism of the reaction of an alkene with excess HI in presence …
2017年4月7日 · According to Markovnikov's rule we would get a vicinal diiodide, which is unstable. The iodine atoms would undergo elimination and once again form a double bonded structure that is 1-propene. As to why (excess) has been mentioned, 1-propene reacts with this $\ce{HI}$ undergoing an addition reaction. As per Markovnikov's rule, this would in fact ...
Why doesn't iron (III) iodide exist? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
2016年5月23日 · Barnes et al. [2] report that reaction of iron metal with trimethylarsine diiodide affords the complex $\ce{FeI3(As(CH3)3)2}$, a trigonal bipyramidal complex with a structure similar to that of lighter halide complexes (picture from Ref. [2]).
