Located on Historic Route 66, Davenport is nestled in the lovely hills of eastern Lincoln County. Settled in the second great land run, the 1891 Sac and Fox Opening, Davenport celebrates its pioneer heritage each year with Nettie Davenport Day on the Saturday before Mother's Day.

Davenport and Historic Route 66. Located on the famous Route 66 "Curve" midway between Okla. City and Tulsa, Davenport is a bustling little town where travelers can still drive on one of the few strips of original Portland cement that was laid for the Mother Road highway.

History of Davenport Oklahoma. In 1903 a colony of "homeseekers," headed by a group of Methodist ministers in Kentucky, formed a corporation called the "Kentucky, Oklahoma, Indian Territory and Adjacent States Land and Townsite Co." and sold stock in the company throughout the state of Kentucky.

Davenport was incorporated as a town in 1906 and was named after the postmaster, Nettie Davenport. The main street of Davenport is paved with bricks manufactured at the Davenport Brick Plant, which ceased operation in 1930.

Miss Oklahoma 2011 and Miss America 2012 Runner-Up! The City of Davenport is extremely proud to be the hometown of Miss Oklahoma 2011 Betty Thompson. Thompson grew up on a dairy farm southwest of Kendrick and graduated from Davenport High School in 2007.
