2023年5月23日 · Dark Sun isn't problematic, WotC is just determined to make D&D as family friendly as possible, and the harsh world of Athas is not family friendly in the least. Cannibalism, genocide, dictatorship, ecological collapse, slavery, there is a lot of stuff in Dark Sun that would not mesh with WotC's current marketing schemes. Which is fine with me.

What is Dark Sun? "Dark Sun is a campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game set on the desert world of Athas. Dark Sun is about the struggle for survival in a dying world ruled by tyrant sorcerer-kings. It is a world where magic drains the very essence of life.

Converting old adventures isn't as scary as it seems, though Dark Sun AD&D adventures were designed for characters that (1) didn't have infinite cantrips and (2) didn't scale so much as they went up in levels. And, many writers of the time enjoyed "railroads" such as fights you cannot win. So, they often need some fixing.

Dark Sun. Go play it. Seriously. I want to..... so badly, but... The main challenge of Dark Sun is finding the sourcebooks and collating them into a document your players can find helpful. If you’re playing 5th edition, you also need to find or make homebrew rules for weapon breakage, psionics, defiling, and elemental domains.

2021年8月26日 · Naming things in Dark Sun is one of those the biggest joys I have as DM. Thri-Kreen names are wonderful Opportunities to incorporate clicks, apostrophes, and buzzes and have your PCs say them. For slave gladiators of any race I like to use their arena name. It’s great to have NPCs with names like “Slayer” “Red Bone”.

I'm just getting into Dark Sun, currently researching the setting and thinking about running it. This is an awesome resource! I question the removal of all stats though. You say you want to make it system neutral, but you're actually making it harder to convert to other systems (speaking as someone who plays B/X).
