2008年3月5日 · Seems like a lot of trout caught in the cold months have stomachs full of hundreds/thousands of daphnia (water fleas) and not much else. Those little critters are pretty tough to imitate with a fly. I've talked to a couple of people who have tried to tie a fly to imitate clusters of daphnia and they sort of look like a torn-up flesh fly.

Whether suspended under an indicator or dangled from a sinking line, the strikes are fairly visual. The trout are swimming up to an almost motionless fly, thinking it’s a small cluster or ball of daphnia, and inhaling it. Feeling the fly in its mouth, a fish can spit it out in the blink of an eye.
