Dalkey Island, only 5 minutes by boat from Coliemore Harbour, is an important site of ancient and historic remains. Artefacts from the island, now housed in the National Museum in Dublin, provide evidence that the island's original occupants were from the Mesolithic, or Middle Stone Age.

Dalkey Island lies off the east coast of Ireland on the southern point of the entrance to Dublin Bay and about two and a half miles southeast of Dún Laoghaire Harbour. The anchorage is in Dalkey Sound off the northwest corner of the uninhabited and interesting Dalkey Island.

Dalkey Island is a very nice respite from the crowds in Dublin. It is calm & peaceful and offers terrific views of the Irish Sea and coast. We saw seals basking on our way over via Ken the Ferryman.
