2024年6月10日 · Put into production at Auto Union’s Ingolstadt works in 1959, the Junior was aimed at roughly the VW Type 1 (Beetle) market, and carried on with DKW’s long-time preference for two-stroke power and front-wheel drive, but with thoroughly modernized styling.

Its engine is a naturally aspirated petrol, 0.7 litre, two stroke 3 cylinder. In this application it develops 34 bhp (34.5 PS/25.4 kW) of power at 4300 rpm, and maximum torque of 64 N·m (47 lb·ft/6.5 kgm) at 2500 rpm.

It offered more luggage space and a wider cabin than the market leading Volkswagen Beetle, and customers willing to pay an extra 160 Marks for the optional heater had the advantage in winter of a car that warmed up much more rapidly than the Volkswagen with its air-cooled power unit.
