2017年5月31日 · The Boating Forum - Sizing a stern anchor - Hi, I have a 32' Monterey with a 22lb plow anchor on a windlass. It works fine and holds the boat well. I'm thinking about using a secondary anchor from the stern when I'm on the hook at the beach - Cape Cod, moderate current/winds - just to keep the stern closer to the shore.

The first is my main anchor which is attached to my windlass and is a Delta plow with 300 ft. of line and 20 ft. of chain. I use this anchor 80% of the time inshore, offshore and anywhere I'm very confident the anchor won't get stuck. Speaking about that, after reading all the opinions here I think I will just use my emergency anchor which is an 8lb fluke slip-ring to secure the stern at sandbars. I will forgo the slip ring and shackle the line directly to the shaft. There seems to be no "must-have" benefit to a stick anchor, expensive or otherwise.

2017年10月23日 · Some anchor windlasses require 8 plait anchor line that is much softer and pliable. On a 50ft boat 5/8" line is okay (marginal) but I would prefer 3/4" especially if the boat is very heavy. I have 5/8" on 43ft and boat weighs 49,000lbs.

2004年1月25日 · Cleared him a channel by attaching an anchor on either side of the boat and powering it forward. Blew out a great little inlet. If you know anyone with a jet drive, I knew a guy who attached a piece of metal heating duct to his outflow and had it deflected down.
