Friday Freight Follies: More Action from Germany - Trainorders.com
DB Class 185 and 186 are the AC and MS versions of the Bombardier (now Alstom) TRAXX locomotives. Retroactively the DB Class 145 is considered a early version of a TRAXX locomotive. The similar bodystyles were dictated by Deutsche Bahn the first purchaser of both models and were derived from DB's large orders for the
The SNCF version of the train tracker - Trainorders.com
Great stuff! Thanks for posting. I notice that it doesn't have full info on Eurostar trains for some reason - well you can't have everything!
Western Railroad Discussion > ES44AC vs. ES44DC - Trainorders.com
Most SD60s and I believe all Dash-8 6-motors were built with high-capacity DB grids, an exception being a small number of the first SD60s for Union Pacific (which still have the "old" 700 amp DB grids). Current maximum DB effort in the AC world is between 98,000 pounds on the GE ES44AC's to about 105,000 pounds on EMD SD70ACe's.
Non-dynamic brake equipped locomotives controlling DB e
A photo on the Nostalgia board showed a pair of SP non dynamic brake equipped GP-9 locomotives in a consist with other locomotives that were DB equipped. QUESTION: Could the lead GP-9, a non-DB unit, place the trailing units that were DB equipped into dynamic braking?
US Army Duty Train - Berlin - Trainorders.com
Ended up on Pan AM into Tegel and then an illegal [I found out later] ride on the U-BAHN line that skirted through East Berlin to get to Tempelhof. What a memory to dig up. Saw duty train laying over near Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, or at least thought so since there was a strng of DB equipment with the stars and stripes. Thanks
Nostalgia & History > GBW C430 - Trainorders.com
GBW 315 was the last C430 built by Alco and the only one built without DB. The C430 was Alco s answer to EMD s GP-40 and GE s U-30B. Of course it was too little and too later for the builder as only 16 of the brutes were built.
Nostalgia & History > "Hammerhead" - Trainorders.com
As I commented in one of valmont's earlier posts, those CR patch jobs are great, and bring back memories. Really enjoyed seeing "old Hammerhead," the former PRR DB/Steam Gen equipped RS3. Here's what she looked like in Erie, PA, Sept 1967.. She's wearing h
Owning a Private car in Europe - Trainorders.com
In the Netherlands there are two or three Royal Carriages, which get used on rare occasions. Other than those the only passenger carriages resembling North American Private Varnish, were operated by EW&S as a Business Train in Great Britain, I don't know if they still own or use them since the Deutsche Bahn takeover.
Model Railroading > Digitrax 4 Digit Address Question
Last week, I made the big jump from the 2 digit address Digitrax Big Boy system to the 4 digit address Super Chief. Most of the decoders from various manufacturers worked fine when reprogrammed for 4 digit addresses, although I had to reset a few to factory settings to get them to work. I also ha
Western Railroad Discussion > She's a Howler - Trainorders.com
The MNPWC moves onto the Sidney Sub at O Fallons (NE). They were configured 3x1 but were only powered 1x1, and the lead unit was "howling" as some SD70s in 8-notch tend to do. 2/21/2025. mike woodruff north platte ne
