
Advice for trimming stumps to near ground level
2009年1月21日 · One thing that I haven't yet been able to figure out: almost any time I try to trim a stump to near ground level, I end up making a crooked cut: the cut doesn't seem to be straight (the bar can't move freely in the cut) and the chain gets dull real quick. I know to keep the chain away from contacting the ground, but this hasn't helped me.

2014年4月13日 · The logger is going to be interested in getting the trees down, cut into logs, and delivered to the mill. But you may want them to pile the slash (limbs and tops) and maybe even chip it. I don't know what is customary in your area, but if you have a house and buildings nearby, you'll want to deal with the slash because it can be a fire hazard.

2003年7月16日 · Hook the come-along on another tree as far away as possible. Crank the come-along until tight (in the direction you want the tree to fall). Then go in and cut a little, but not too much (don't pinch your bar). Go back and crank the come-along some more until tight. Cut a little more. Cut -- crank -- etc.

2020年10月6日 · 1) It would be extremely dangerous to cut that speed. 2) I find that number hard to believe. This was Oregon logging, the trees tend to be of substantive size. As for me I feel more like ~30 big cut trees is a solid day. Though nowhere close to being a professional logger. If I was expected to cut more than ~50 trees/day I would quickly walk away.

2009年2月11日 · I once cut a 36" dia white ash with a 20" bar. I was a bit concerned but it worked without any problem. First I cut a notch one side then the other being careful to meet the cuts. The wedge came out without a problem. I then took a short break to build confidence and focus in case I needed an escape.

2005年4月5日 · 1.) Leave the trees alone until the leaves have turned green, and than died. This way the leaves will pull a lot of moisture from the wood. Cut to firewood length (not logs) and split ASAP after that. 2.) Immidiately cut to firewood length, and split. This method is normally not practical with large amounts of trees (capasity problem).

2013年1月21日 · I use a backpack shindaiwa to cut out thorny brush. The shaft lets you stay out of the prickleys and saves your back and knees. I use a saw blade instead of the three point one in the pic. It will cut down a 8 inch diameter tree.View attachment 274829
