His entry in Tekken 4 was right about when MMA started REALLY heating up on the international stage so his character addition made a lot of sense. It was pretty clear back then that Marduk's style was pretty heavily inspired by MMA superstars of the late 90s to early 2000s like Mark Coleman, Fedor Emilianenko, and Tito Ortiz.
