The CPUSA was the leading Marxist-Leninist vanguard party for most of the 20th century, and was closely affiliated with the Soviet Union. At one point, a secret CPUSA member was even elected into the US Senate. After the dissolution of the USSR, the CPUSA suffered a few major splits and was set back considerably.

Also, I personally think it’s lame when people whine about it being a honey pot cause it’s clear that organizing in America isn’t gonna be a cake walk.

CPUSA's role in this is to add a Marxist perspective to these struggles for democratic rights and even if CPUSA itself is a small party, if it puts out a call to defend the democratic rights of, let's say, women, and then thousands of liberals turn up, that's very based. CPUSA is usually worth it, though it depends on your local chapter. What I'd recommend more than anything is to get involved with whatever groups are most active in your area. Jul 5, 2018 · CPUSA is much less focused on electoral politics and yeah, not as active as DSA, but I don't think they're completely dead. I think they're still somewhat active in organizing, supporting the Poor People's Campaign, things like that.
