The coypu or nutria (Myocastor coypu ) is a species of semi-aquatic, dog-sized rodent in the family Capromyidae. These animals are native to central and southern South America, but they have become widely established elsewhere, mostly as a result of animals that have escaped from fur farms or that have been deliberately released.

So, what is this breed? A Coydog is the product of a coyote and a domestic dog. Since these two canids are different species (Canis latrans and Canis lupis familiaris), the Coydog can be considered a canid hybrid.

They occasionally fight with domestic dogs. If a canine approaches a nutria, the nutria could respond with an attack that involves a combination of scratching and biting. Dogs' injuries from nutria sometimes require stitching -- so never allow your dog anywhere close to nutria.
