Corypha or the gebang palm, buri palm or talipot palm is a genus of palms (family Arecaceae), native to India, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea and northeastern Australia (Cape York Peninsula, Queensland).

Etymology: The name of the genus comes from the Greek "Coryphee", meaning top, or summit. Uses: Fibers from the petioles were used to make sails, and ropes. Fruit can be eaten. Even though still a large palm, this species from Southeast Asia and southern China is of considerably more moderate size than the other members of this genus.
