Nitrogen, like carbon, uses pi overlap of p orbitals to form double bonds. Thus, all atoms directly attached to a C=N bond must be coplanar with the C=N pair. The geometry of pi overlap and the sp2 hybridization of the doubly-bonded atoms leads to coplanarity of the double bond atoms and all of the atoms bonded d…
Coplanarity - Wikipedia
In geometry, a set of points in space are coplanar if there exists a geometric plane that contains them all. For example, three points are always coplanar, and if the points are distinct and non-collinear, the plane they determine is unique.
Illustrated Glossary of Organic Chemistry - Periplanar, coplanar…
Coplanar refers to objects lying in the same plane (torsional angle = 0 o or 180 o). In this eclipsed conformation, the two chlorine atoms are syn-periplanar, as are the two hydrogen atoms and the two bromine atoms. The Cl-C-C-Cl torsional angle is 0 o (i.e., lying in the same plane and pointing in the same direction).

2024年1月5日 · Two lines in three-dimensional space are coplanar if there is a plane that includes them both. This occurs if the lines are parallel, or if they intersect each other.

2020年11月25日 · coplanar means for atoms in a molecule to be on the same "level" per say. for example, if you hold you hand flat on a table, the hand is on the same "plane" as the table. However, if you make you hand perpendicular to the table, it is now "out of plane". the same logic applies to molecules and atoms. hope this helps! Re: coplanar?
