Apr 2, 2012 · Cloaks and capes are easy to make because you only need a square piece of heavy clothand maybe one button and your done, it doubles up as a blanket when your outdoors and is alround useful in the days before mass production. Plus of course if your striding round looking manly and your cape is flowing behind you it looks cool and dramatic.

Buttons and zippers provide more complete closure of the garment and therefore greater warmth than a cloak that doesn't close all the way.
