2015年3月6日 · Cat 6e: Category 6 Enhanced (6e) is an augmented specification (not standard as David said before) designed to double transmission frequency to 500 MHz. By wrapping Category 6e in grounded foil shielding, full 10-Gigabit Ethernet speeds can be reached without sacrificing the max cable length of 100 meters.

1000BASE-T was designed and tested by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (i.e. the IEEE standards body) for 1000 megabits per second performance over up to 100 meters of Cat 5 (not even Cat 5e) cable. See the IEEE 1000BASE-T specifications within the 802.3 spec, currently in IEEE802.3-2008, clause 40.1.

Using a 200 foot CAT 6E cable... There is no such thing. You may be thinking about Category-5e. If someone is selling Category-6e, it is a junk cable. In any case, 1000Base-T (1 Gbps) requires all four pairs to connect at 1 Gbps. If there is a problem with one or more pairs, it tries to fall back to 100Base-TX (100 Mbps).

2012年3月23日 · @user231465: The web-page you link to is contradictory, the graphic title says Cat-5e at the top but say Cat-6e (which doesn't exist) at the bottom. The text says "quality construction" but then says "copper clad aluminium" (aluminium is cheaper than copper).

2016年1月8日 · We have CAT 6 Cabling & LeGrand keystone jacks; unknown to me & could be CAT 5, 5e or 6. We might be redoing certain jacks/ keystones/ plugs for higher CAT compliance. Wondering if there is a difference in how the cabling is terminated for the different CAT-egories i.e. for CAT5, CAT5e, CAT 6, CAT6a & CAT7 compliance .

2019年5月4日 · Cat 5e is not an actual rating, but an adaptation of Cat5 which is not rated for the theoretical throughput limit of 1 Gbps. Cat5e can do it, but it's a modification and needs ideal conditions. You might see "1GB" listed in a given run's readout, but do a speedtest with the same run on Cat 6 and in most cases you will notice the difference.

I have Cat 6 cabling in my home and noticed that one of the outlets seems to be operating at 100 Mbit/s. All of the in-wall cables connect up to a 1 Gbit/s switch, which is connected to a fiber-based ISP.
