You can go necro if you want to benefit from the 1.5x damage that non-golem minions provide or elementalist for more golems. Lightning golems are almost certainly not the most damaging golems and were actually nerfed recently.

Carrion golems benefit a lot from other minions (50% more damage), and the amulet is at most taking you from say 3-6 golems (assuming 3 utility golems, you'd probably only use 2), but nerfing their damage by 35% (best case).
