2017年12月3日 · I cut up a heat shield blanket tht is a sandwich of to pieced of corrugated foil with a spongy material in between that's impregnated with the same ceramic that's used for the space shuttle tiles. Only about 1/8" thick but 1300° on one side and touchable on the other. It's flexible, formable and cuttable with a pair of scissors.
Heat Sheild for a Weber carb : MGB & GT Forum - MG Exp
2014年7月28日 · A heat shield for the Weber carburetor (and I assume you mean a 2 bbl, Weber DGV) is a physical barrier (assume heat radiates just like visible light) that prevents the heat from the exhaust manifold from over-heating the carburetor. Yes, this is a very long URL; but, it comes up with (several) Weber DGV carburetors, with heat shields:

2011年3月20日 · I find that, in very hot outside temperatures, the single layer heat shield isn't really adequate. The gasoline in the carburetors gets very hot and MGBs don't idle well. It wouldn't be that hard to create a dual layer heat shield and that would possibly make a big difference. This wouldn't be hard to fabricate at all.
MG TD Vapor Lock / Heat Soak (Step by Step Instructions)
2022年5月27日 · While there are several postings about MG TD vapor lock and heat soak, I didn't see a step-by-step how to fix it posting. Below is what I did to my 1950 MG TD. 2006年10月16日 · I also have added a insulating space under the Weber. So I repair two major heat generators, isolate the carburetor and and then the looking like vapor-lock symptom issues starts. So I thought I would install a heat shield under the Weber and see if that helps. When I saw you link to jackscars I tried to go there but the page seems to be down.

2012年4月22日 · I got some great heat shield "fabric" from MGOC. I've had it wrapped around the Cannon intake manifold and it's right next to the exhaust manifold. Works well and there's enough "foil" to in that you could wrap it around the metal shield I think, and tough enough you could rivet or bolt it to the metal.

2024年7月11日 · Bob - the MGA shield does not have the tabs for the throttle springs - these are only on the MGB shields. Graham - the shield should be a straight swap - it is the same dimensions as the original, and is only a single layer thick where it goes over the manifold studs. I'll update further after fitting. Cheers Peter

2014年9月20日 · Wayne - Unless you are suffering vapor lock while the car is moving, the heat shield is of little help. Most of the problems people are having are a heat soak situation, with the heat from the engine and exhaust manifold causing a bubble to form in the channel from the float bowl to the carburetor jet.
