The tufted capuchin (Sapajus apella), also known as brown capuchin, black-capped capuchin, or pin monkey, is a New World primate from South America and the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Margarita.

White-faced capuchins live in dry or wet forests, and in mangroves. The color of their fur is pale cream to white on their bellies and the upper parts of their arms and legs, with black fur on their backs and lower limbs. They have white fur on their faces and a black cap.

2009年4月17日 · The brown or tufted capuchin is recognized by its characteristic head coloration, a black or dark brown cap with dark sideburns. On either side of the dark cap on the head there are tufts of dark fur above the ears. The shoulders are paler than the back which ranges from shades of yellow to red-brown, darkest in the middle of the back.

The tufted capuchin is extra powerfully constructed than the opposite capuchins, with rougher fur and a protracted, thick tail. It has a bundle of lengthy, hardened hair on the brow that may be raised as a form of “wig”.

The top of their head features a black cap of fur and sideburns of a similar colour which run down the side of their face. There are black tufts of fur above the ears. On the heads, feet and tail their fur is a darker brown or black.
