Mercury makes two gateways, one for Engine (CAN P) and one for other systems (CAN H); the most common is the Engine gateway and it only converts the CAN P (engine) data to NMEA 2000. Are engine messages transmittable to NMEA 2000?

Jul 8, 2024 · I recently purchased a Simrad GO XSE and want to create pages to monitor engine parameters. Eng's are Merc. 2007 5.0L with SmartCraft Gauges. I installed a NMEA 2000 network linked to the eng's through a Mercury Gateway device (not Vessel View). On the Simrad I can go to Settings/Device List and see the Gateway Can-P multi. It's status is "OK".

You just need to make sure you get the correct adapter cable for SmartCraft. if your can-p gateway is a smartcraft gateway, that gateway must be powered from one (and only one) of your engines. In addition you may need to use a magic box to train your engines to have the correct identity.

I can plane and do 15mph with only me in the boat (180lbs) but anyone else on board the boat will not plane. Generally, as long as you know about it and act accordingly (e.g., seal any penetrations well before adding hardware), it shouldn't be a problem. You can maybe ask Sea Ray for info about your hull layup schedule.
