Camphene is a bicyclic organic compound. It is one of the most pervasive monoterpenes. As with other terpenes, it is insoluble in water, flammable, colorless, and has a pungent smell. [2] It is a minor constituent of many essential oils such as turpentine, cypress oil, camphor oil, citronella oil, neroli, ginger oil, valerian, and mango. [3]

Camphene is a monoterpene with a bicyclic structure (Fig. 17) and a pungent odour. It is used as an additive in foods and as a fragrance additive. When present in cannabis it does contribute an earthy or musky smell to the oil, as well as a somewhat piney like odour. In fact, camphene is sometimes synthesized from pinene.
