A Brief History of Camp Chesterfield. Starting in 1843, Dr. John Westerfield promoted speakers in mesmerism, phrenology, trance speaking, healing, clairvoyance, and spirit contact at his newly built Union Hall in Anderson, Indiana. Since 1886, the Spiritualist church camp of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists (IAOS) — affectionately called “Camp Chesterfield” by the locals — has been offering visitors spiritual reprieve and comfort for the past 128 years.

Founded in Chesterfield, Indiana in 1891, Camp Chesterfield has served as the headquarters of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists. It is a gathering place for worship, recreation, and relaxation.
