The CJ-7 was similar to the CJ-5 Renegade, but with a 10-inch longer wheelbase and partially squared-off door cutouts to accommodate hinged doors. Later editions of the CJ-7 included a factory dash plaque that read "Last of a great breed, this collector’s edition CJ ends an era that began with the legendary Jeep of World War II".

In 1987, the Jeep CJ-7 was replaced by the first-generation Jeep Wrangler. Looking very similar and riding on the same wheelbase as the CJ-7, it carried over some important components, including its use of leaf springs.

2024年11月30日 · I started a CJ face to YJ radiator shell graft. Never finished; decided it wasn’t worth it and used CJ7 fenders and circa 1967-ish hood instead. It all installed using factory bolt holes and threaded clips as everything lined up perfect.

2017年10月27日 · A couple of tips: clean the gauge face with a white vinegar, soap, and water. Anything harsher will remove the white lettering. Also take care when separating the rubber gasket under the glass as it will most likely be stuck to the black inner bezel and will crack or break that bezel.
