The Cessna Citation V (company designation Model 560) is a business jet built by Cessna that was in production from 1989 until 2011. During that time, 774 such craft were made. The first Model 560 prototype, a stretched version of the Citation S/II, flew in August 1987 and was certified on December 9, 1988.

The Citation Jet (CJ) series is a family of small private jets, seating between 5 and 8 people (and sometimes known as the Cessna Citation C525 family). Since the smallest member of the family, the CJ1, was launched in the early 1990s, they have been a highly successful series of small private jets for manufacturer Cessna.

The 2,100 nmi-range (3,900 km), 20,200 lb (9,200 kg) MTOW jet is powered by two 3,650–4,080 lbf (16.2–18.1 kN) PW545 turbofans, has the cruciform tail and unswept supercritical wing of the Citation V (560), and a slightly shortened Citation X stand-up cabin.

The Cessna Citation Jet features a shorter cabin instead of a stand-up. Variants include the Citation CJ1, CJ1+, CJ2, CJ2+, CJ3, and CJ4. The Citation Mustang is a new Very Light Jet (VLJ).

Basically the Cessna 525 CitationJet is a Citation I fitted with a T-tail, although there are more differences of course. So if you know the Citation I, the CitationJet is not so difficult to recognise. The CJ family retains the characteristic cut off oval cabin windows.

The CitationJet was a clean-sheet design from Cessna over “legacy” models introduced in 1993. NASA assisted with laminar flow wing design to bring a new level of efficiency to the light jet fleet. The CJ series was certified for single pilot operations from day one.
