Welcome to State Capitol Events Permits Website. The Department of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is responsible for issuing permits. There is no cost for obtaining a permit and permits will be processed on a first-come first-served basis. The CHP does not provide any equipment for the events (PA System, Stage, etc.).

Motor Carrier Permits - California DMV
Get a CA# from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) (see the FAQs for more information). Complete an Application for Motor Carrier Permit (MC 706 M) (PDF). Provide proof of insurance (see “Insurance Requirements” below). Provide proof of Workers’ Compensation insurance or signed exemption.

Motor Carrier Permit FAQs - California DMV
The CA# is issued exclusively by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to identify motor carriers and is used as the MCP number. CA# applicants must complete a Motor Carrier Profile (CHP 362) and mail, fax, or deliver it in-person to their closest CHP Motor Carrier Safety Unit.
MAIL THE ORIGINAL COMPLETED FORM(S) WITH REQUIRED FEE TO THE ADDRESS BELOW. Complete and accurate entries (SSN, phone numbers, address info, etc.). Proper fees. Original authorized signature. Check all of the appropriate boxes for the type(s) of specialized highway routing requirements that apply to your company.

Under the new Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) program, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will select terminals for inspection based on available carrier performance data or the commodity transported, rather than the prior time-based
