C-C chemokine receptor type 7 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CCR7 gene. [5] . Two ligands have been identified for this receptor: the chemokines (C-C motif) ligand 19 (CCL19 /ELC) and (C-C motif) ligand 21 (CCL21). [6] .

Recent evidence suggests that by guiding cells to and within lymphoid organs, CC-chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) essentially contributes to both immunity and tolerance.

Here, we demonstrate that CCR7 in addition acts as a potent co-stimulatory molecule in T cell activation. We found that antigen recognition and engagement of the TCR results in CCR7 accumulation at the immunological synapse where CCR7 and the TCR co-localize within sub-synaptic vesicles.
