CATP-8 controls the translocation of Wnt proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum through the hydrophobic cores in Wnt signal sequences. This study provides insights into the physiological functions of P5A-ATPases in neuronal patterning and reveals potential mechanisms underlying P5A-mediated transportation.

2021年10月26日 · Here, we report that CATP-8/P5A ATPase directs neuronal migration non-cell autonomously in Caenorhabditis elegans by regulating EGL-20/Wnt biogenesis. CATP-8 likely functions as a translocase to translocate nascent EGL-20/Wnt polypeptide into the ER by interacting with the highly hydrophobic core region of EGL-20 signal sequence.
