2023年6月23日 · The buyer requested a carfax report after looking over the vehicle, to which I went directly to the carfax website and paid around $60 for the report (and there's a deal on 3 reports!). Printed a copy to PDF and emailed to the seller. I figured that even if the guy didn't buy it, I'd have it handy for anyone else interested.

Yup complete scam. Anyone buying a car trying to send the seller to a random site is a scammer. It's the buyer's responsibility to get the car information and all they need is the VIN. And pretty much any site besides Carfax is a scam

2019年4月27日 · The Carfax for that came back clean as well. I know for a fact it was wrecked before I bought it. While I owned it, I know it had $6000 hail damage and was rear ended twice, all reported to insurance, and nothing on Carfax. Wife's vehicle also had $3000 in hail damage, also reported to insurance, also did not show up on Carfax.

2021年9月12日 · So I actually found that particular scam after this guy messaged me, just from googling "VIN scam," but, unless he plans to direct me to some site other than Carfax later, all he seems to be asking for is the VIN so that he can run a report. I'm a little mystified.
