Hi everyone! I wanted to share my wild experience with CA 27.29. My first blood test for it before surgery (double mastectomy. Right breast grade 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (2 tumors 9mm and 4mm) and Left breast had Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia) CA 27.29 was 70.2.
How high is high for the CA27/29? — Community Discussion Forums
I know there is a lot of controversy re tumor markers....some of you don't have the test done, some oncos don't use it as a test because it is not always an accurate diagnostic tool However, in my case, they have ALWAYS been very accurate and when they go up, I have always had either an increase in tumor size or a new area of mets. I am thinking they told me a long time ago anything under 30 ...
Ca 27-29 Tumor Markers increasing — Community Discussion …
I am freaking out! My oncologist does tumors markers as part of my regular bloodwork every 6 months or so. I have always been in a range of 12.5 to 17.5 on my CA 27-29 for the last 6 years. But my numbers have been increasing over the last 4 times (about a year and a half) from 13.6 to 20.6 on September 14.
Raised CA 27.29 and Scared Out of my Mind
CA 27.29 is absolutely not an appropriate screening for someone who has never had cancer. At this point, since you've had the test done, I suppose you need to follow it through. But speak to your doctor about, and if necessary, change doctors. This guy isn't doing you any favors by subjecting you to unnecessary tests and unnecessary worry.
NEW TO STAGE IV……WHAT ABOUT THESE TREATMENT DRUGS?

CA 27.29 test - what is too high? — Community Discussion Forums
Well I just keep getting sucky news but am admitting I use Dr Google more than I should. My blood tests came back and all were in the normal range except for my CA 27.29 which it seems is the one that we want to be normal. Dr Google tells me that anything over 100 is pretty bad but I've seen posts from women who were in the 600's. I have not had any treatment or surgery yet - …

2019年12月25日 · I should really take my own advice on this thread (located just a few posts above this one) and yet I'm filled with anxiety based on the stupid CA 27-29 test. I was already feeling anxious this week because I have a colonoscopy and any cancer screening gives me anxiety. First result in March 2020- 26.4. Second result in June 2020- 23.1
Cancer Marker CA 27-29 - what is worrisome?
Yes- I think we do still have ca cells in our body after surgery. Remember many of them are micro in size. That is what the chemo is there to stop them multiplying even more. In my case I have return of ca to the collar bone area after 6 1/2 years after surgery and chemo. My markers right now were normal before treatment so go figure.

Another elevated CA 27.29 question — Community Discussion …
Read this on a medical site: "An elevated serum CA 27.29 level in patients in remission of stage II or III breast cancer provided a positive predictive value of 83.3% for recurrent disease, with an average lead time of 5.3 months before recurrence was clinically established." Yikes. I know other things can cause it and so can other cancers. Ugh.
