Differential diagnoses for temporal lobe tumors
2023年7月27日 · Most tumors of the CNS can potentially occur in the temporal lobe, but entities with a predilection for being diagnosed in this location include: pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) ganglioglioma; pilocytic astrocytoma; dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNET) multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumors (MVNT)
Systematic Approach to Brain Tumors - The Radiology Assistant
On CT and MR we look for tissue characteristics like calcifications, fat, cystic components, contrast enhancement and signal intensity on T1WI, T2WI and DWI. Most brain tumors are of low signal intensity on T1WI and high on T2WI. Therefore high signal intensity on T1WI or low signal on T2WI can be an important clue to the diagnosis.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Temporal Lobe: Normal …
2014年5月1日 · MRI provides excellent spatial and soft-tissue contrast resolution that helps demonstrate normal anatomic landmarks and tissue abnormalities. This pictorial essay aims to review normal imaging anatomy of the temporal lobes and demonstrate various pathologies that affect this region of the brain primary based on conventional MRI.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Primary Adult Brain Tumors: …
Grade 2 IDH-mut diffuse astrocytoma frequently appears as a homogeneous T2-hyperintense circumscribed supratentorial mass, more typically located in the frontal or temporal lobes, without calcification or enhancement.
Brain Tumor Imaging in Adolescents and Young Adults: 2021 …
2024年2月13日 · Familiarity with specific imaging morphologic characteristics of pediatric- and adult-type tumors of the central nervous system is essential to provide the best imaging care to adolescents and young adults as both tumor types can occur in this age group.

2024年10月30日 · It accounts for around 2% (from 0.4-3.8%) of all primary intracranial tumors, and up to 10% of primary cerebral tumors in children. Clinical presentation. The most common presentation is with temporal lobe epilepsy, presumably due to the temporal lobes being a favored location. Pathology
Clinical, radiological and pathological features of temporomesial ...
Tumors of the mesial temporal lobe are clinically and radiologically distinct. Seizures are common in all tumor grades, and most patients are male, especially those 50 years or older. Apparently, in terms of MRI, not all GBMs glitter: in mesial temporal lobe tumors, lack of MRI contrast enhancement does not rule out high grade glioma at all.
Multinodular and Vacuolating Neuronal Tumor of the Cerebrum: …
2017年10月1日 · In this article, we describe the nearly pathognomonic imaging appearance of MVNTs and suggest that these are nonaggressive “leave me alone” brain lesions, which do not require either biopsy or resection. Fifty-three cases of presumed MVNTs were collected from the MR imaging archives of the multinational contributing authors.
