Once a horse is ready to transition from a hackamore or snaffle into a bit with shanks the 2 Rein Outfit can be used. When using a 2 Rein, a bosal 3/8 inch in diameter or smaller, also known as a bosalita, is worn under the bridle.

This Bosalita is a Rawhide braided Bosal 1/4″ with latigo leather tie-12 plt. Bosals are the nosepiece part of a hackamore outfit, but the terms are often used interchangeably. Hackamores were the old-time vaqueros’ tool of choice for starting colts, and are still preferred for the initial stages of training by some modern horsemen.
