The reason I went with the black house spider and not the trap door spider was due to the white streak on its back. I ran across a house spider picture that had the same markings on it last night when I was trying to find what kind it was.

2023年2月21日 · About half an hour ago, i walked into my room and stepped directly over what looked to be a common black house spider (I live in Western Australia, it fit the profile,about 1-1.5cm, black, large abdomen, I think it was female.) when i noticed it, i tried figuring out what it was, and came to that conclusion.

I had one in my drivers side mirror for a while and had a similar problem identifying it but I read more about their descriptions and found it to be a Black House spider. I thought she was a funnel web at first because they do make funnels in their webs and the black silky colour on the legs. Turns out she was harmless.

Black house spiders are very common in my area, I've never been bitten by one even though they quite happily live in almost every one if my window frames.
