Yūichi Shibata (柴田 優一, Shibata Yūichi) was a Human boy whose mother was killed by the Hollow Shrieker when the latter was a living serial killer. Yūichi is a small boy with unruly medium length brown hair and brown eyes. When he died, he wore red shorts and a green jumper.

Grand Fisher (グランドフィッシャー, Gurando Fisshā) is a Hollow that had evaded Shinigami for 54 years and is responsible for the death of Ichigo Kurosaki 's mother, Masaki Kurosaki. He later transformed into an imperfect Arrancar following his defeat at the hands of Ichigo, but was killed by Isshin Kurosaki.

Ichigo's friend Chad finds a bird that is rumored to bring bad luck. Chad takes the bird in anyway because he has a soft spot for animals. Ichigo's sister Karin finds out that the bird is really the soul of a young boy whose mother washuged. The boy is now being hunted by a Hollow. Karin makes Ichigo promise that he will save the boy.
