If his goal is magic xp then yes, besides fire wave w/tome hits up to 39 with bracelet and occult iirc. Looking at the wikia toxic trident will hit 23 maximum at 75 magic and accounting for the speed of the weapons (3s for sotd, 2.4s for toxic trident) sotd using fire is stronger AND cheaper.

Splashing fire strike would cost about half that, but it’s only like 14k xp an hour, on the flip side, you only need to click every 5 minutes or so to keep your character logged in.

hi there, yaks are not a good idea to train on especially with mage. i suggest you train slayer and use ancient magics, which are multi-combat spells in most cases, to attack many enemies at once, in an area such as zeah catacombs. some slayer tasks like dust devils and nechraeyels can net hundreds of thousands per hour in xp and even can profit.
