Bantry is a beautiful and modern harbour town in West Cork, one of the most picturesque parts of Ireland. It is located along the renowned Wild Atlantic Way touring route and is the perfect base from which to explore these stunning lands.

Bantry (Irish: Beanntraí, meaning '(place of) Beann's people') is a town in the civil parish of Kilmocomoge in the barony of Bantry on the southwest coast of County Cork, Ireland. It lies in West Cork at the head of Bantry Bay, a deep-water gulf extending for 30 km (19 mi) to the west.

Bantry has a wealth of heritage, natural and built, from sea, woodlands and mountains, to Bantry House, the Kilnaruane Pillar stone and the story of Wolfe Tone. The Heritage Loop Walks featured below were set up by the Bantry Tidy Towns group and aim to take walkers on a tour of many of the heritage points of interests in and around the town.

Bantry library is located on Bridge Street, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. It provides an extensive range of books, audio books, CDs and musical instruments for rental. It frequently holds events for adults and children throughout the year, including Story Time for children, book clubs and events for the West Cork Literary Festival .

The walk takes you to a viewing point high above Bantry Bay with fantastic panoramic views over the town and across the bay to the mountains beyond. The route climbs up through Bantry, past the post office, up Scart Road and through Dromleigh before following a pretty winding road all the way up to Vaughan’s Pass viewing point.
