A permit is always required to enter the BWCA Wilderness. Visitors taking an overnight paddle, motor or hiking trip, or a motorized day trip from May 1 – September 30 are required to obtain a quota permit.

The area continues to have an on-going travel advisory due to area blowdowns, inconsistent water flow in streams and rivers, and on many BWCA lakes with flowage.
